Meet the team

A bit about us

Whether you see us in Albany or Katanning, there’ll be a friendly face to greet you.

Albany

Dr Melanie Sounness | Chiropractor

B Sc (Chiro) B Chiro (Hons)

Melanie is Great Southern born-and-bred, having initially practised in Perth and then returning to Albany, Mount Barker, Jerramungup and Katanning, among other places.
She is the founder of Great Southern Chiropractic.
“The aim, really, is to listen, and find out what’s going on with our patients and what they need,” she explains.
“Lifestyle is important, and our chiropractic service is one of the positive health choices that can help patients get more out of life.”
The mother of two says she loves meeting and working with people of all ages and walks of life.

Katanning

Dr Oscar Adeane | Chiropractor

B Sc (Chiro) B Chiro (Hons)

Oscar brings a wealth of experience in chiropractic care to Great Southern Chiropractic.
“I first discovered chiropractic as a teenager when I had an achey lower back while competing at a high level as a basketball player. Chiropractic treatment helped me develop as an athlete and how to focus on the court and the classroom,” he says.
The rest of the story is history; Oscar is now a well travelled chiropractor. He has ran clinics internationally in Indonesia, India and Lima, Peru. In Western Australia, he has practised in clinics in Perth, and the regions, including the Pilbara and Gascoyne.
“I am very excited discovering Katanning and the Great Southern; it’s great to work in the clinic and to be of service in this region.”
Originally from the port city of Fremantle, Oscar can often be seen out and about walking with his greyhound, Poppy.

Courtney Boxall | Chiropractic Assistant

Originally from Narrogin, Courtney now lives in Katanning and is one of the helpful chiropractic assistants in the administration office at Great Southern Chiropractic.
“I worked in medical surgeries in both Katanning and Kojonup for a little while and now I have joined the chiropractic thing,” she says.
“I like talking to people and you build your own relationships with them and then they remember you next time when they come back.”
At the reception desk, Courtney meets patients when they come in. Courtney thinks Great Southern Chiropractic is a fun place to work.
“It’s really friendly, everyone is great to work with and the patients are lovely too,” she adds.

Peta Batchelor | Chiropractic Assistant

A long-term Katanning resident, Peta has a shearing background and has worked at Great Southern Chiropractic for several years.
“You see different people in here every day, and I enjoy that,” she says.
“I’ve got ‘em from the minute they walk in the door, and they’ll stand at the counter and talk to me until I take them into one of the rooms and when I have them in the room we’ll chat, chat, chat in there too until I walk out.
“Our clients are always so nice, and when they’re happy to come in, because they’re getting fixed, they’re going to walk out feeling good.”
