A bit about us
Whether you see us in Albany or Katanning, there’ll be a friendly face to greet you.
Dr Melanie Sounness | Chiropractor
B Sc (Chiro) B Chiro (Hons)
Melanie is Great Southern born-and-bred, having initially practised in Perth and then returning to Albany, Mount Barker, Jerramungup and Katanning, among other places.
She is the founder of Great Southern Chiropractic.
“The aim, really, is to listen, and find out what’s going on with our patients and what they need,” she explains.
“Lifestyle is important, and our chiropractic service is one of the positive health choices that can help patients get more out of life.”
The mother of two says she loves meeting and working with people of all ages and walks of life.
Dr Gracie Atkins | Chiropractor
B Sc (Chiro) B Chiro (Hons) SOTO Thompson Inspiral
Gracie brings to Great Southern Chiropractic a life-time passion for Chiropractic.
“I was introduced to Chiro at a campsite in Exmouth when I was 10. A baby who was camping nearby my family had been crying for 2 days. A family friend of ours was a chiropractor and he helped the baby fall asleep by applying gentle adjustments. That night, the baby slept right through for the first time ever. Seeing this with my own eyes meant I was hooked!” Gracie says.
Gracie explains that chiropractic is not about pain, the long-term goal is always to balance the body and ensure that the nervous system is functioning at its best, so people can remain resilient against the stresses of life.
“I love that every body I treat is different and getting people back to functioning at their best is a puzzle I need to solve,” she adds.
Working in the community of Katanning suits Gracie’s love of a country lifestyle, but be warned … watch out for her ridiculous jokes about cheese!
